Early last summer, I watched as my youngest dog Baleigh figured out how to jump over our 4-foot picket fence. I went to the lumber store and bought enough 6-foot stockade fencing, tore out the old 4-foot picket fence, and installed the taller stockade. That stopped Baleigh from jumping over the fence. Being the escape artist she is, she resorted to digging under the fence. She figured out if she dug deep enough, she could get under the fence and continue chasing those intimidating squirrels.
After filling in the many holes that she dug. I once again made a trip to the lumber store, this time to buy strong chicken wire, and then I attached it to the fence all the way around the backyard.
We, as Christians, can sometimes be escape artists. God sets boundaries for us, but we are so busy chasing after our wants and desires that we ignore the boundaries and leave the safe backyard God made for us.
God doesn’t set these boundaries to make it difficult for us, but He sets them because we don’t realize or cannot handle the dangers outside of the fence. God wants to keep us safe from the pleasures and darkness of this world. He tells us to put on His armor and be ready.
Ephesians 6:11 (KJV): “Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.”
The closer we walk with the Lord, the more our eyes are opened to the wickedness and pitfalls around us.
So, I encourage you, my brothers and sisters of God’s Kingdom, to study God’s Word and know His boundaries.
