As I was waiting for my wife in the car while she ran into the store for a “quick” few things (I say “quick” because normally it is anything but quick and always more than just a few things) I was watching a traffic light. I watched it go through it cycles of red, green, yellow. After a few minutes I timed each cycle and then each color. This particular light stayed green for 33 seconds, yellow 5 seconds, and red 28 seconds. Each cycle of the light was 1 minute and 6 seconds. When traffic approached that traffic light, some cars slowed down and stop as the light changed from green to yellow to red.  There were others, who sped up to beat the red at the risk of themselves and others.

When I pray to my Heavenly Father for direction, asking for an answer or asking for a need. My mind brings me back to a traffic light. God always answers prayers of his children. The answer is sometimes Red, (No or Wait) No because, it is not in God’s plan for you right now or maybe you have the wrong motive.

Sometimes God answers with Yellow. (slow down, be cautious) If God answer’s this way, we should be very aware of the circumstances around us. God may sometimes grant you part but not all. We need to still keep in prayer about this. The answer is not “no” but it is not “yes” either.

Then the answer we all like is green. God see’s the desire of our hearts and will answer our prayers in accordance to His will, not ours. For me, that is the hardest thing to wrap my head around and in most cases, how I mess things up and fall. My will is strong, but I need, must obey God’s will. God knows what I need and knows be better than myself. His plan is perfect, mine is flawed. God already know’s my future, I can only see things as they happen.

Whatever color of light in the cycle I get answered with, I can be assured, God’s plan is perfect.
