Aah, another Monday morning.
I’m wondering why Mondays get such a bad rap.
Did you know in retail, Mondays are the worst day of the week as far as sales? In some places, Mondays are so bad, they stay closed.
Years ago, when I was a young man, I remember my dad used to fill up his gas tank on Saturday because filling stations were closed on Sunday. In fact, back in the ’60s and early ’70s, it was hard to find anything open on Sunday. You couldn’t wait until Monday rolled around when places reopened again for another week.
What changed? Why do we get the Monday blues? What is the deal with Mondays? Why is it dreaded?
I haven’t researched it; this was just a thought this morning as I was waking up from a stressful night of work last evening.
I have always enjoyed Mondays. The first day of the week, a new set of downs (for football people), another chance to start fresh. Much like New Year’s Day, when you’re relieved you made it through the year and you get a chance to make the coming year better than the last, only with Mondays, it happens every week instead of every year.
I’m guessing here, but could it be that people dislike Mondays because it’s the first day back to work? Maybe it’s going back to a routine after a weekend of doing something different or doing something you wanted to do.
Whatever the reason, I hear it all the time how people dislike it when Monday rolls around again.
I think it’s all in your attitude and how you perceive your role or what you do in society. If you believe or think bad things will happen because it’s Monday, they probably will because you are looking for bad things to happen to prove to yourself you were right. I bet it’s true if you were to turn it around and think positively. Why not start looking for something great to happen? If we are looking for it, we will find the good in Mondays, or any day for that matter.
Bad Mondays or the Monday blues are something we have created in our minds, and we have completely bought into it.
I don’t look at Mondays as the first day of the week. I look at Sundays as the first and the last day of the week.
What better way to end a week than worshiping the Lord with fellow believers, and what a wonderful way to start the new week with fellow believers! Putting aside all the humanness from churches, yes, there are churches out there that want to control every part of your life. But putting that aside for another blog, start looking at Mondays from a new perspective.
Think about what a joy it is to have another Monday to serve and honor God. Another Monday that I am alive to receive what God has in store for me today. Another Monday to see God’s blessings. Another Monday to see another answered prayer.
I don’t know if the famous Mr. Winston Churchill said it first or if it was a quote he picked up. He said, “We have nothing to fear but fear itself.”
Its true! Fear is no longer fear if you know what it is, and so Mondays can’t be bad if we already know Monday is no different than any other day of the week.

Embrace Mondays as another wonderful Great day to be alive. Another great day, we get to live for the Lord.
May God’s peace always abide in you.
