If you are a Christian even for a short time, you have probably heard “walk with the Lord or having a closer walk with the Lord”. So what does that really mean? Since the Lord is not physically on the earth how can you walk with Him?
I want to start out first by saying, I am not a theologian or a pastor. I am a everyday indiviual seeking and depending on God in my life. What I write here is what I believe God has revealed in my life to help me understand Him more.
When you develop a friendship with someone, it dosen’t happen overnight. It takes time talking with them, sharing, laughing, sometimes even crying, all to get to know them better.
With God, it is the same thing. To know God is to spend time everyday in His word the Bible, it is also to bow your head and spend quite time in prayer. It is also to have fellowship with other believers and share the things God has done in your life and also worship God together. (why church is so important) All these things, God has instructed us to do and is found throughout His word.
God wants us to be an example to others, eventhough we are in the world, we don’t have to live as the world. Our walk with the Lord, will be different for each Christian depending on your maturity and very noticeable difference than the worlds. God will bring different trails and tests to each of us depending where are relationship is, to teach and help us be a brighter light (better witness) to the non-believers.
Each day I strive to be more like Christ, I make lots of mistakes and have to ask for forgiviness daily. God knows your heart and he will give you the strength you need to have victory over your trails and tests. But the victory will elude you if you don’t take time for God. To walk with the Lord is to know Him, spend time in His word, take quite moments throughout the day to reflect on what He has done for you. Talk with Him and thank Him for all the miracles and blessings you have received. If you truly seek God, He will make Himself known.
