This is a subject that is not talked about very much. It is all around us, happens everyday and will happen to each of us at some point in time. Some of us fear it, while others will embrace it. DEATH
This week, a dear friend of mine suddenly loss a family member. It was not expected and was a big shock. My friend is a very strong christian women and although sadden by the loss, she knows in her heart and rejoicing in the fact that her family member is now in the arms of our Heavenly Father. Some people are scared of death. Death is unknown to us except for what we see. If we experience death then we no longer exist to walk on this earth and can’t explain what it is like to our friends or family. Other people embrace death. These people know that even though they don’t know what it is like, for them it is not an ending but only a beginning of an eternal life with the only One True King, “Jesus.” When Paul writes in Corinthians, Death where is thou sting? He is saying don’t fear death because Christ gave us victory over it. We all will meet death (unless the Lord comes first) but for christians it is not the end, but it is just the beginning. We will live with our maker in a place with no pain, no fears, hunger, sorrow or tears. Even though we will miss the friends or family members that pass on, we should be celebrating their home-coming to our Heavenly Father.
Because God sent his son to die on the cross with the burdens of our sins and arose agin on the 3rd day, we have victory over death. A precious gift given to us by God and it is free for us to take. All we have to do is accept it by faith, confess that we are sinners and acknowledge that God is the Lord of Lords and the Ruler of everything. That’s it! Simple words to pray and believe it in your heart. Nothing else to do. No qualifiers, no buts, no only if’s. Just one short meaningful prayer to become a child of God and death will no longer have a hold on you. Death will no longer be feared.
There is nothing to fear about death, unless you are rejecting God.
